The chapter attempts to redefine development “in a meaningful sense” as a legitimate human aspiration for individual and collective better life conditions, where quality counts more than quantity. Finally, some priorities and experiences are identified that could lead toward the building of an alternative growth-independent society, which Belarus may consider in its struggle for sovereignty in an era of globalization.
