This paper aims at measuring the effectiveness of science parks (SPs) in diffusing tacit processes of knowledge transfer at local level. Although a vast amount of empirical studies has focused on SPs’ ability to undertake knowledge related tasks, we argue that little is known about SPs’ ability to perform gate-keeping functions and sustain socialised processes of knowledge creation thanks to the relational proximity among actors. Moreover, our conceptual assumption is that SPs’ capacity in fostering bridging and networking mechanisms among economic actors increases when firms are characterised by high absorptive and relational capacity. Our analysis provides prima facie evidence that Science Parks play a role in creating relationships among local actors while they poorly perform their gate-keeping function.

Abstract
Our analysis provides prima facie evidence that Science Parks play a role in creating relationships among local actors while they poorly perform their gate-keeping function.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
