The objective of this paper consists in presenting a methodological framework to support the re-design decision, in terms of the strategic settlement in the operations management area and of the adoption level of innovative techniques. Furthermore, to test the ability of the proposed methodology to suggest re- designing patterns, more than 15 real-life case-studies of Italian SMEs are thoroughly considered and analysed.
