This entry reviews the current literature on Limited Partners (LPs), which underscores the heterogeneity of their investment strategies. While predominantly driven by financial returns, these strategies also consider nonfinancial aspects such as social impact, sustainability, and mission alignment. Second, this entry provides descriptive evidence on LPs based on a global sample of VC funds. Collectively, this entry systematizes existing knowledge of the role of LPs in the VC industry.
