The chapter analyses the relationship between the individual and the power in manga. In particular, the focus is on the rebellion against power and authority in selected manga, i.e., Death Note, Lone Wolf and Cub, Ruroni Kenshin, Ikigami and Demokratia. The choice of these five manga is to support the claim that rebellion against power is inherent to manga literature, hence cutting across the border between genres. The analysis then focuses on the way the relationship between power and authority is structured and the characters channel their rebellion to overthrow/reform the system.
