The Greater Bay Area in China is an economically flourishing yet legally diverse region comprising three distinct jurisdictions: Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. Legal harmonization in contract law, especially sales law, is desirable yet faces severe difficulties. This chapter discusses the origin and reality of the legal diversity, the need for harmonization, the methodology this project adopts and the structure of this volume.
