The aim of this chapter is to consider what all this means for a bank and how bankFinTech relationships can move forward. The chapter has two parts. In part one, we start by giving a brief description of unbundling and re-bundling (paragraph 2), and then outline what Open Banking means (paragraph 3) as a new construct. In part two, we look at the most important implications from Open Banking and we outline them by developing the meaning of platforms and business ecosystems and summarize the main implications for both banks and FinTechs (paragraph 4). Finally, paragraph 5 gives some conclusions and future trajectories of research.

Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to consider what all this means for a bank and how bankFinTech relationships can move forward. The chapter has two parts. In part one, we start by giving a brief description of unbundling and re-bundling (paragraph 2), and then outline what Open Banking means (paragraph 3) as a new construct. In part two, we look at the most important implications from Open Banking and we outline them by developing the meaning of platforms and business ecosystems and summarize the main implications for both banks and FinTechs (paragraph 4). Finally, paragraph 5 gives some conclusions and future trajectories of research.
