One of the biggest current discussions is how attitudes toward globalization have changed in recent times. We have seen not only words but also actions against immigration, trade agreements, foreign and domestic multinational enterprises (MNEs), and other manifestations of globalization. More importantly, we have also seen populist movements that have pushback against globalization as a key component of their ideological platforms. The big question for scholars is how to interpret these changes: how is it that attitudes have changed so radically? What will happen in the future? Why are people willing to trade off the well-known gains of globalization for the perceived benefits of “national identity”? And not least, how will global business be affected by all of this?

Abstract
One of the biggest current discussions is how attitudes toward globalization have changed in recent times. We have seen not only words but also actions against immigration, trade agreements, foreign and domestic multinational enterprises (MNEs), and other manifestations of globalization. More importantly, we have also seen populist movements that have pushback against globalization as a key component of their ideological platforms. The big question for scholars is how to interpret these changes: how is it that attitudes have changed so radically? What will happen in the future? Why are people willing to trade off the well-known gains of globalization for the perceived benefits of “national identity”? And not least, how will global business be affected by all of this?File | Dimensione | Formato | |
