This chapter proposes a conceptualization of knowledge intensive entrepreneurship (KIE), including a definition and a process model of the dynamics over time which take into account the interactions between KIE ventures and innovation systems. This chapter provides a broad foundation for understanding and analyzing KIE at two levels, namely as a particular type of entrepreneurial venture and as a dynamic phenomenon.
