This chapter gives some hints about two challenges of architectural firms. The first challenge deals with embedding a building in its local context, calling for choosing among local, regional and global strategies and coherent organisational structures. The second challenge is related to ways of coordinating work, sustaining organisational creativity across different offices and countries and balancing between a shared common culture and local offices’ flexibility. This comment elaborates on these two challenges, linking together insights from the HOK experience and theory from existing literature.

Abstract
This chapter gives some hints about two challenges of architectural firms. The first challenge deals with embedding a building in its local context, calling for choosing among local, regional and global strategies and coherent organisational structures. The second challenge is related to ways of coordinating work, sustaining organisational creativity across different offices and countries and balancing between a shared common culture and local offices’ flexibility. This comment elaborates on these two challenges, linking together insights from the HOK experience and theory from existing literature.File in questo prodotto:
