The article provides an overview of weberian and new-weberian interpretations in economic history. It then suggests that, from the point of view of godparenthood, the transformations triggered by the Reformation were contrary to what would be implied by new-weberian views (the Catholic practice was more "reformed" that the Reformed practice, and the old practice was more favourable to economic activity than the new one)
