The chapter discusses the role of French transnational social movements organisations during the conflict in former Yugoslavia. It presents a typology of humanitarian organisations allowing to distinguish between advocacy associations on the one side, and operational organizations on the other side. The former are active in western countries to raise collective consciousness around a specific issue, whereas the latter act directly on the field of the conflicts. The chapter makes the hypothesis that such humanitarian situations represent the rising of a global active consciousness.

Abstract
The chapter discusses the role of French transnational social movements organisations during the conflict in former Yugoslavia. It presents a typology of humanitarian organisations allowing to distinguish between advocacy associations on the one side, and operational organizations on the other side. The former are active in western countries to raise collective consciousness around a specific issue, whereas the latter act directly on the field of the conflicts. The chapter makes the hypothesis that such humanitarian situations represent the rising of a global active consciousness.File in questo prodotto:
