The article is prompted by the reform of French law of civil liability proposed through the Projet de réforme of March 2017; particularly, it focuses on the division of dommage and préjudice. The comparison of the French law with the Italian law of civil liability shows convergences and divergences between the two legal systems, above all with regard to pure economic losses. The author’s contention is that the harm caused to the tort’s victim is per se recoverable, irrespectively of any loss that may have been resulted from it.
