The recent executive order by President Trump targeting sect. 230(c) of the Communications Decency Act recommends interpreting the clause restrictively, to exclude social networking platforms from benefitting of the so-called Good Samaritan clause. While unlikely to influence the judicial understanding of the scope of application of the provision, the order may nonetheless persuade law-makers to tackle the issue of free speech online in the near future by coordinating with the main stakeholders, i.e. the internet social networking platfoms
