Italy and Hungary. An incomparable comparison

A superficial glance at the recent past might suggests that Italy and Hungary reveal various common problems, for example the tension between a political majority or, as in Italy, an entire political class and the judiciary. An in-depth analysis discloses all the differences among the two countries, mainly because Italy is certainly a democracy with no alternative whilst, on the contrary, the Hungarian transition to democracy is definitely uncomplete. European constraints, either from the European Court of Human Rights or from the EU, might be a common characteristic but the similarities end here.
