This case study is about determining the organization’s goals, strategy and design, and adapting the company to the changing environment. Moreover, the case discusses organizational culture in highly symbolic organizations. Santa & Cole is a Spanish design firm, known for ‘publishing’ design objects and services. ‘Organizational creativity’ is the company’s key asset and is analyzed in all its elements (including the organizational culture). However, notwithstanding the particular organizational culture driving organizational creativity, after 20 years of business, the company experienced a crisis in 2005 and 2006. Going through the different stages of Santa & Cole’s life cycles, the case highlights that changes in the structure, control systems, innovation and goals did not all occur at the same time and this is a plausible reason for the internal crisis. The case is organized into two parts. Part A aims to discuss the topics of organizational culture, organizational creativity and changes in the company life cycle. Part B aims to discuss organizational design issues and key HR management practices required by organizational change, presenting what the company did after the internal crises in 2005 and 2006. Case A (plus video A) can be discussed alone or jointly with Case B (plus video B).

Abstract
Case A (plus video A) can be discussed alone or jointly with Case B (plus video B).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
