The aim of the research is to assess the performance of Foreign Direct Investment in top European regions, in terms of productivity and profitability. The micro-level approach allows to estimate an average regional effect independent from a number of firm-specific characteristics. To explain the origin of the estiamted regional effects the national insitutional settings, the characteristics of the TNC of affiliation, as well as some sectoral peculiarities are exploited.
