Sterilization is the process that destroys any pathogenic agent living on a surface. Its importance stems from the necessity to guarantee that patients and professional workers are not infected by pathogenic agents. Sterilization is an important phase of the hospital production process and certainly influences hospital total costs. A new sterilization tecnique is being marketed and seems to be safer and quicker than the currently available techniques. The objects of the present work are to analyse the direct, indirect and intangible costs of both the new technology and the commonest alternative and to monetary value and compare direct costs of both the alternatives. A Break Even Point analysis has been performed where the new technique has been assessed against the traditional and most diffused one. Finally, the paper more ambitiously aims to support the decision making process with additional information on cost data.

Abstract
Finally, the paper more ambitiously aims to support the decision making process with additional information on cost data.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
