The prevalence ratio of obese people in Italy is lower than in other European countries, notwithstanding the forecasts about its growth in the next years are of great concern both for clinicians and healthcare administrators. The educational approach and the diet are the first answer for this problem, however therapy could include surgery for subjects with a history of repeated diet failures and comorbidities. This work aims at describe and analyze the clinical pathway of the obese patient who undergoes bariatric surgery (gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric by-pass), from the first specialist examination to follow up. The study considers the experiences of six Italian Hospital, in Lombardy and in Tuscany, thus allowing a comparison among different pathways for the management of the same surgical treatment.

Abstract
The prevalence ratio of obese people in Italy is lower than in other European countries, notwithstanding the forecasts about its growth in the next years are of great concern both for clinicians and healthcare administrators. The educational approach and the diet are the first answer for this problem, however therapy could include surgery for subjects with a history of repeated diet failures and comorbidities. This work aims at describe and analyze the clinical pathway of the obese patient who undergoes bariatric surgery (gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric by-pass), from the first specialist examination to follow up. The study considers the experiences of six Italian Hospital, in Lombardy and in Tuscany, thus allowing a comparison among different pathways for the management of the same surgical treatment.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
