This focuses on executive pay and the second part on performance related pay for the rest of dependent employment. It provides cross-country, notably US vs. Europe, as well as cross-industry comparisons. It also characterizes the evolution over time of incentive schemes. Details are provided about the design features of these schemes, their tax treatment and the way in which they are regulated in different countries. As previous volumes of this series, it goes beyond a descriptive analysis and a critical and up to date survey of the literature.

Abstract

This focuses on executive pay and the second part on performance related pay for the rest of dependent employment. It provides cross-country, notably US vs. Europe, as well as cross-industry comparisons. It also characterizes the evolution over time of incentive schemes. Details are provided about the design features of these schemes, their tax treatment and the way in which they are regulated in different countries. As previous volumes of this series, it goes beyond a descriptive analysis and a critical and up to date survey of the literature.
