The aim of this paper is to describe the evolution of AGIP’s investments in the Romanian oil business from 1926 to 1943. The Italian state-owned company entered in Romania purchasing a majority share in Prahova company. This participation was originally purely financial, but after 1928 AGIP pursued a stronger integration of the Romanian activities. This plan was just partly successful, due to the 1930’s international crisis and the Second World War.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe the evolution of AGIP’s investments in the Romanian oil business from 1926 to 1943.
