Most Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) were initially developed to help professional records managers with the management of paper-based records. EDRMS are now also used by knowledge professionals throughout organisations to locate records and information needed for their work. In this paper, we draw on our findings of a field study on the information seeking behaviour of 40 EDRMS users in 4 organisations that used 4 different EDRMS, to provide Records Managers (RMs) with the managerial challenges they need to consider to better serve their EDRMS users.
