The chapter outlines the detailed body of international humanitarian law, both conventional and customary, on the protection of tangible cultural heritage in armed conflict. It covers the substantive obligations, the ancillary rules, and the institutional framework provided for by this law, as well as the legal means, both delictual and penal, available for its enforcement. It concludes that, insofar as international law is capable of mitigating the consequences of war, the law on the protection of tangible cultural heritage in armed conflict is as capable as any.

Abstract
The chapter outlines the detailed body of international humanitarian law, both conventional and customary, on the protection of tangible cultural heritage in armed conflict. It covers the substantive obligations, the ancillary rules, and the institutional framework provided for by this law, as well as the legal means, both delictual and penal, available for its enforcement. It concludes that, insofar as international law is capable of mitigating the consequences of war, the law on the protection of tangible cultural heritage in armed conflict is as capable as any.File in questo prodotto:
