Autogrill is the world’s leading provider of food & beverage services for travellers, with a strong focus on fostering people’s professional development. This case study is a role-play allowing discussion of a performance evaluation and coaching feedback session between a general ICT service supervisor and his manager as part of the performance evaluation process. Participants are asked to play either the role of the manager or that of the employee. The information provided in the two roles highlights an issue of misalignment regarding the employee’s performance in the past cycle. The goal of the manager in the feedback session is to realign perceptions and to end up with a mutually agreed action plan for the future. There is also a potential third role – that of the observer – who is external to the role-play and observes the interaction between the manager and the employee. Through this case study participants will develop their skills in planning and conducting a performance evaluation and coaching session and in giving effective feedback.
