In this chapter, we examine how an organization might establish a vision for virtualization, identify indicatators to monitor status and progress toward the vision, and measure progress and capability. Because virtuality is multi-dimensional, a single indicator of progress and capability is likely to be unreliable. Instead, we propose the use of two dashboards: a dashboard for monitoring the state of virtuality in relation to organizational and virtualization goals, and a capabilities dashboard.
